The Narrative Album
The Narrative Album is our full digital print album. It's a stunning full page print album, designed and drafted in the studio but built entirely by the album supplier. The pages are printed edge to edge so this happens in production, leaving no lip or border. The printed pages are mat, so no shine, and we spot check print quality regularly.
The Narrative Album is so called because it offers the digital print pages, and in our opinion allows for better expression of the fuller narrative throughout the course of the day. The number of pages within each album can be individually customised for each design and therefore allow layouts offer greater flexibility than the traditional albums with their set number of pages. It means we can design the pages with multiple images butting up against each other, getting creative with the space.

Ordering :: all albums are designed by the studio using in-house software provided by and linked back to the supplier for ordering. Draft 'album proofs' are provided to the client via .pdf on email. Clients will then check and amend these proofs where necessary and respond to the studio for next draft to be prepared with their amendments. This process has been tried and tested and we have founf this to be the best method for drafting and proofing album designs. Two additional draft 'proofs' will be provided after the initial design, after which a design amendment fee is applied where necessary. All clients must sign off on the approval for the final draft to initiate album ordering. This part of the process can take as long as needed to ensure the final approved draft is 100% to the clients' satisfaction.
Production Turnaround :: 6 weeks from order / final signed approval from client.
Quality Notes :: We've never, ever had a quality issue and anytime we've needed anything our need has been answered immediately. In an industry where the cheaper, overseas options are all too available, we have deliberately chosen to maintain a relationship with smaller, Australian-grown, quality producer. It's about ethics in business. And quality.
Lovely soft linen cover, cover measuring 12 inches x 12 inches (photography printing speak is always in inches, go figure).
No embossing is available on the linen cover though, something to do with it being a natural product. Embossing is where we can write a line about the album, whether it be the date, your names, your favourite quote, etc. and it's usually on the album cover.
However there is embossing available on the front flyleaf.. which is the page inside the front cover before the actual printing begins. That's nice and subtle I think. Refer to the EMBOSSING gallery on the left hand side to see more of what I mean.
The Grey Album allows for a large landscape print to run across the full double page spread... there's not even a gap at the inner gutter. This is one of the most beautiful benefits of this album design and is something we cannot achieve with either the White or Linen album. This is the only album with FULL PAGE printing, so this is the only album in which we can expoit this image placement.
A page is individual and a spread is what we call double facing pages (seen here)... so even in the Linen Album, which has individual digital pages, we can't achieve this look as the digital pages are individually mounted. Only the Grey Album allows for a full spread as the images are printed directly onto the page at binding.
This images shows the edge of the pages and highlights the print running right to this edge. There's no border or mat to be seen. Nice and tidy.
